PGA, players praise the Turning Stone Resort Championship
by syracuse.com

Turning Stone Resort Championship winner Dustin Johnson chips from behind the 18th green. Players are calling the tournament a success.Despite the mixture of rain, hail and cold temperatures during last week's Turning Stone Resort Championship, the golfers think the tournament was well run and deserves a better spot on the Tour schedule.
"It's a great tournament. It's a great venue. I think it needs to be part of the FedEx Cup, but it needs to be played three or four weeks earlier," said Robert Allenby, this year's runner up.
For the next four years the tournament is expected to be moved back to a September slot.
The Post-Standard's Chris Wagner looks at whether a move to a summer slot is possible for the Turning Stone Resort Championship.

Perfect conditions for T-Stone finale

Attention fair-weather golf fans:
The weather is finally fair.
That leaves no excuse for not heading out to see the final round of the Turning Stone Resort Championship, unless, of course, you're wedded to the NFL or trying mowing your wet lawn. My advice: skip both.
The jam-packed leaderboard, sunny skies and receptive greens promise to make this a final round to remember. Someone WILL GO LOW, and I'm guessing a hot hand can easily post a 64 here at Atunyote Golf Club today.
That number was readily attainable by Davis Love III on Saturday when he was 7-under par after 14 holes. But he was a little ragged on his closing holes, making a poor three-putt bogey on No. 7 (he started on the back nine) and a medicore chip on the par-5 8th that led to a par. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, he let a solid chance at 63 slip away.
Tee times started this morning at 8:10 a.m. Because of an odd-number of players remaining, Horseheads native and overall good guy Joey Sindelar was to go off alone. (I jokingly asked to play as his marker, but was turned down by the PGA Tour's affable media rep, John Bush, with a two-word answer: "Uh, no.")
The final twosome at 1:45 p.m. will feature the co-leaders (8-under 208) Charles Howell III and Tag Ridings -- two long hitters who are good friends. Davis Love III, who moved into a tie for ninth Saturday heads off at 1:05 p.m. with Charles Warren.
The sleeper group of the day may be the 1:15 pairing of Dustin Johnson and Robert Allenby. Ask any player on the PGA Tour to point out a player with a sweet swing and they'll direct your attention to Johnson. He has a swing to die for. As for Allenby, the surly Aussie has been in the hunt before and isn't afraid to go low.
The last hour of pairings look like this:
1:45 p.m. -- Charles Howell III and Tag Ridings (both 8-under 208)
1:35 p.m. -- Kyle Thompson and Brian Davis (both 7-under 209)
1:25 p.m. -- Jeff Overton and Jason Day (both 7-under 209)
1:15 p.m. -- Dustin Johnson and Robert Allenby (both 6-under 210)
1:05 p.m. -- Davis Love and Charles Warren (both 5-under 211)
12:55 p.m. -- Mark Hensby (211) and Robert Garrigus (212)
12:45 p.m. -- Joe Ogilvie and "Aquaman" Woody Austin (both 4-under 212)
